A case-control study is a study that looks back in time to determine the relative risk of a specific exposure and an outcome.

Step 2: Explanation

In this study, the subjects are put to test twice: once after normal sleep, this is considered as a controlled study, and another after a sleep deprivation of $27$ hours which is the experiment group. Thus this design of the study is called experimental case-control design.
