Frequently asked questions:

How do you study for an AP exam?

To study for an AP exam, you should first create an AP exam study plan with Vaia to set goals and track your progress. Start this plan and your studying as early as possible (several months in advance), and get your hands on an AP prep book. Study in groups to have fun and reinforce your own learning, and lastly, familiarize yourself with the details of your upcoming AP exams. Also, don't forget to practice your material as much as possible!

Can you retake AP exams?

Yes, you can retake AP exams. However, because AP exams only happen once a year, you'll have to retake them the following year. If you do, both scores will be reported unless you request that one be withheld or canceled.

How long do AP exams take on average?

There are 38 AP exams in total, each with their own requirements. However, most of the AP exams are between two to three hours long.

Who grades the AP exams?

The multiple-choice section is graded by computer, and the free-response sections are graded by appointed college professors and AP teachers at the annual AP Reading.
